FOUNDATIONS Acrylic WEFTED: Machine-made lengths of fibre, cut and shaped into a head-framing foundation, held in place with elasticated strips. MESH: Soft foundation made of acrylic fibre hand applied. Has the advantage of being cooler. Human hair MONO FILAMENT: Very light but strong foundation suitable for fine volume hairstyles where the wearer needs a close style e.g. a mature person. WIGMAKERS FOUNDATION (custom-made): Usually a fine synthetic netting to which the hair is knotted in by hand - single or double knotting may be used. More hair may be added if thinning occurs over the wigs lifetime. Usually requires dry-cleaning.
